JUNIOR PRIZEGIVING 2021
We are finally pleased to announce the award recipients for the 2021 season.
Firstly, want to thank our sponsors over the season; RTWA Ruakura Tyres & Wheel Alignment & Research Motors, Keg Room, Texas Pete & The Soccer Shop.
It’s been a tough end to the season with covid ending our season so abruptly and hugely disappointing we were unable to hold our annual prizegiving in person this year, but hopefully you have all been able to get your teams together and do your own little prizegiving.
Congratulations to all award recipients.

You will notice this year there are no team of the year awards. This is to align with NZ Football and that there was no official competition for all grades this year.
We do however still have team spirit awards which are listed below. These are for teams that show superb team spirit & comradeship throughout the season. They are supportive of all team members and display positive encouragement throughout the season, even if games aren’t going their way regularly. Congratulations to the teams below.

Coach of the Year Awards
We appreciate all the great work our coaches do over the season; they are all volunteers and the majority have work commitments to schedule around. The dedication and commitment involved in weekly training sessions and games each week is commendable. They are often the first to trainings and games and last to leave. We do have a few certain special awards for coaches of the year who are chosen as a collation of nominations from club members. Congratulations to the below coaches who are awarded a Keg Room Voucher. This year the coach of the year awards goes to:
Grade | Coach |
First Kicks | Scott Runciman (FK JellyTips) |
7/8 & U8 girls | Mat Whibley (U8 Steel) |
9/10 & U10 girls | Josh Steward (9 Brazil) |
11/12/13/14 & Feds | Mike Lawrence (12 Feds) |
Junior Coaches
As our club continues to grow, we continue to see some fantastic youth coaches stepping up to coach our younger teams. They have helped where teams are unable to find a coach. Both award recipients below have grown in leaps and bounds throughout the season in confidence, structure, discipline they instil, respect they have held within their teams and have kept their teams positive in sometimes challenging games. We appreciate our junior coaches and have acknowledged them this year with a Rebel Sports Voucher. Congrats to the following two youth coaches!
Team | Coach |
11th Lazio | Finn Ericksen |
10th Sevilla | Luke Bradley |
Manager of the Year
Our fantastic managers we have during the season does not go unnoticed, they often do the hard yards throughout the season behind the scenes in terms of communication, reminders, substitutions, player of the day awards, keeping track of scores and entering them into the Comet! We thank you all! Again, these awards are picked from your nominations. Congrats to the following managers of the year who are awarded a Keg Room Voucher:
Grade | Manager |
First Kicks | Nicole Sharp - 6 Moros |

9/10 & U10 girls | Donna Ferguson - 9 Brazil |

Each year, NUSC give out two prestigious awards. They are the President’s Award and Club Member Award. Both awards recognise the outstanding service and commitment by either individuals, groups, or teams within our club.
President’s Award – Jenny Murdie
Jenny Murdie has been awarded our President’s Award for 2021! Again, this year we have faced many challenges with our football season. The administration alone with, allocating every player, coach, manager into the system is a mammoth task, especially within the boy’s area where we have over 500 boys alone. The administration has increased over the last couple of years due to covid and Jenny has always gone above and beyond and ensured that everything is in place for our players to get as much enjoyment out of their season, even if it ended up being a short one like this year. The commitment shown by Jenny during what has been another challenging season is outstanding. Jenny has also organised the entire junior prize giving this year which is an enormous task. She has done all of this whilst working a full-time job and being a fantastic mother! Jenny has been with NUSC for three years now and we hold her in the highest regard! Thank you for everything Jenny.
Club Member Award – Perry Kendall
Perry Kendall has been awarded our Club Member of the Year for 2021! The club member award is intended to recognise those individuals who have continued in their service to the club and have extended their commitment and dedication to include both on and off field roles. It recognises someone who has demonstrated exceptional contribution to the club and that is why Perry is being awarded it this year. Perry oversees our senior space within the club and has taken on the role within our referee space, managing our grounds and being an instrumental person on our committee. Perry also does a huge amount of work behind the scenes and is always willing to help in any area within the club. His positive and efficient approach has been excellent, and we would be lost without him. The time and effort that Perry puts into everything does not go unnoticed and for that we thank you Perry!
Congratulations to both of these wonderful recipients!
We would like to thank all our committee members for their outstanding efforts in which has been a hard season for us all.
