Youth Girls Football at Northern United
Welcome to Northern United, where our commitment is to make football accessible to individuals of all skills and abilities, providing opportunities for everyone to embrace this fantastic sport.
In the wake of the FIFA Women’s World Cup, which has brought a renewed focus on women’s sport in Aotearoa, Northern United is proud to be part of building lasting pathways for girls and women in football. We aim to provide opportunities for players at every stage of their lives, from community play at 4 years old through to Senior Women’s and beyond.
This year, our primary focus is on expanding opportunities for girls and women and bridging the gap between Junior and Senior Football. Our Youth Football Programme is tailored for girls aged 12–18, with a seamless transition into Senior Women’s from the age of 16+ (and earlier for those ready to step into higher levels of competition).
To help you navigate the options available, here’s an outline of the pathways designed to suit your football journey.

U15 Federation League
This is a newly created league designed to bridge the gap between Junior Football, School Football, and Senior Women’s. It allows players to enjoy the best of both worlds, school sport and club sport, while beginning to connect with a club environment.
All games are played on Sundays around the Waikato, making it easy to balance school commitments while growing your game, building new relationships, and preparing for the next stage in your football journey.
